Grassroots
The Isola vision for a ‘Garden Design Business of Excellence’ is the brainchild of our founders, James Brash and Matthew Callow whose paths first crossed while attending Moreton Morrell Horticultural College. James and Matthew were selected to represent the College in competitive landscaping and their flair and inspirational style earned them the honours to build Mike Roberts Roof Top Garden design at The Chelsea Flower Show in 2006 for which they won a Silver Gilt medal. They also were Gold medal winners in the regional heats of the 2006 BALI Landscape Skills competition. This successful partnership paved the way for a business venture and so Isola Garden Design was born. The company has gone from strength to strength, and has since become one of Warwickshire’s most respected names in garden design and landscaping.
Team Talk
One of Isola’s key strengths is the diverse specialist skill base of our team members and our desire to embrace innovative new techniques. We are fortunate to have our own dedicated teams of skilled individuals and qualified tradesmen who each have their own areas of specific expertise; our in-house landscaping teams being at the core of our business. All of us involved with Isola have gained many years’ experience perfecting our crafts. Come rain or shine, we are passionate about our profession and relish the job satisfaction that each new project brings.
James – Managing Partner
“The garden was always a place I loved to be when I was growing up. My Grandma was a keen gardener, winning numerous prizes for her displays of summer bedding. I always remember her immaculate lawn. And my Grandfather was a dedicated grower of vegetables.
I suppose that is where it all started for me. Having spent most of my life involved in sport and music, I decided to combine my physical and creative flair with my love of gardens having graduated from Music College. It was at Moreton Morrell Horticultural College where I studied garden and landscape design and subsequently met Matthew.”
Matthew – Partner & Head of Landscaping

“From a young age I always had a passion and talent for anything practical and physical, whether it be running around a football pitch or building something useful, so I decided to embark on a career path where I could combine my interests and abilities. That was of course garden and landscape design. It was at Moreton Morrell Horticultural College that I realised that my strength was in landscaping. This gave me the opportunity to develop my core skills in landscaping before taking up a placement with a leading garden and landscape design company.
